Barcelona Festival: La Mercè 22

Summer is over today, it’s been a wonderful few months, but wait! Doesn’t mean this is over. You can still enjoy a little more of those major festivals that have everything of the summer festivals, and in the month of September, Barcelona brings us many things, for a person from the Catalan city, as well as for many other people, one of the most popular festivals in Barcelona, the Fiesta de la Mercè.

September 24 is the official celebration of this festival, but it lasts for days, from September 23 to 26 you will be able to enjoy live music, fireworks, culture, dance, etc. If you are at the Xior Collblanc residence, you can go to many of the concerts and scheduled activities that are available to do during these days and enjoy these festivities to the fullest. Concerts

These festivals have many concerts in Barcelona during the four days of the festival. It has a wide variety of musical genres at these parties such as Pop, Rock, rap and many other musical styles.

You can check the entire concert program on the official poster of the festival . Some of the best-known artists on the national scene who will participate in the festivities are: La Oreja de Van Gogh, Nerea Rodríguez, Samantha, La Pegatina, Els Catarres, Lola Índigo, Doctor Prats, Buhos, Stay Homas, Miki Nuñez…And many more.

The concerts of all these artists and others are free and await you in different parts of Barcelona such as Avenida de la Reina Maria Cristina, Playa del Bogatell, Moll de la Fusta, among others.

Pyromusical of La Mercè

As is tradition in the holidays, you cannot miss the Piromusical, with spectacular fireworks to the rhythm of music. This show will be held as the closing of the festivities on the last day, September 26, at 10 p.m. It will be held in Montjuic and can be seen live from Reina Maria Cristina avenue.

You will also be able to enjoy the festival dedicated to pyrotechnics days before the grand closing of the festivities. This festival is called the Mercè International Pyrotechnic Festival and this year is the XXIII edition of the festival. Every year an international company is in charge of the fireworks at these festivities. This edition is going to be produced by a company from Naples on September 23 at 10 p.m., and on Saturday September 24 at 10 p.m. in Rome. This year it is Italy that will represent the celebration of these holidays.

Open doors: museums and monuments

The La Mercè festivities give you the opportunity to visit some of the most well-known museums and monuments in Barcelona, ​​which perhaps, if you have just arrived at Xior Collblanc, you have not yet had the pleasure of knowing something very important, for free!

  • National Art Museum of Catalonia, Saturday 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Macba, Saturday 24, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Picasso Museum, Saturday 24, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Basilica of the Sagrada Família, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25, from 6 to 8 pm and Monday 26, from 10:30 to 2:30 pm.
  • CaixaForum and CosmoCaixa, Saturday 24, from 10am to 8pm.
  • Castell de Montjuïc, Saturday 24, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Cultural activities

If you live in Xior Collblanc and are not familiar with Catalan popular traditions, at the La Mercè festivities you will have the opportunity to experience this tradition to the fullest. Shows such as the “correfocs”, “castellers” (human towers), giants, big heads, devils and popular Catalan dances such as the “sardanas” and others.

 

Along with this program of the festivities, there is also BAM 2022, the Barcelona Acció Musical festival, which will also be held on the occasion of the La Mercè festivities. You can choose what you like the most or simply go to everything that is scheduled for these days. Visca La Mercè!
